🔎 Definition:

Asymptomatic

A so-called asymptomatic infection means that it doesn’t trigger any symptoms, but that the person is a carrier, i.e. infected with the virus/bacteria. Sometimes, it can also mean that the person is contagious, but has no symptoms. The majority of sexually transmitted infections are asymptomatic, i.e. they cause no symptoms, even though the infected person is contagious without necessarily knowing it.
