Lymph nodes

Small organs forming part of the immune system. Their presence is normal. When they swell (increase in size), it means that an immune reaction is taking place, i.e. the body’s response to an attack by a pathogen (virus, bacteria, etc.).
Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures found throughout the body and form part of the immune system. They filter lymph to eliminate germs and diseased cells, and help produce immune cells that protect the body against infection.
