A virus is a tiny organism that needs to attach itself to a host, usually a cell (human or animal), in order to survive using its resources and replicate (reproduce). There are many different types of virus, each with different characteristics, including their impact on our health, their degree of contagiousness, and the way in which they can be eliminated, if at all possible.
