Medical and gynaecological consultations
Accueil / Our actions / Medical and gynaecological consultations
Sexual health is a human right.
The WHO (World Health Organisation) defines it as more than the absence of disease and infirmity, but as a state of complete well-being.
In all its services, Planning Familial adheres to the WHO’s definition of health as multidimensional and positive. Our global approach considers all aspects of sexual health: health promotion, prevention of infections and unwanted pregnancies, pleasure, well-being, relationships with oneself and others, relationships including the context in which they are experienced (consent, absence of violence, equity, etc.).
Our role is to provide medical consultations for teenagers and adults, open to everyone, from all social backgrounds and of all ages, and to ensure that patients benefit from scientific advances, high-quality equipment, the privacy and comfort they need during consultations, and a respectful and caring professional attitude.
Access to medical services is open to everyone without distinction or discrimination of any kind.
- Monitoring can begin very early, from before puberty to old age.
Planning consultations
Our doctors and gynaecologists are obstetrician-gynaecologists or general practitioners who, in addition to their initial training, have inter-university diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology, gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound, medical sexology, sexual health and human rights education and counselling, colposcopy and vaginal pathology, foetal medicine, birth control and women’s follow-up, etc.
They will offer you a full gynaecological check-up, as well as the necessary procedures (ultrasound, colposcopy, biopsy):
- Information and access to all methods of contraception, adapted to each case, including emergency contraception.

It is possible to take a pregnancy test free of charge at all centres.
It is necessary to wait for a period delay of several days or at least 2 weeks after unprotected or poorly protected sex! It’s recommended to take a pregnancy test with the morning urine.
Be careful, it is not 100% effective.
The longer you wait, the lower your chances of avoiding an unwanted pregnancy!
It is available free of charge from Planning Familial. It is also on sale in pharmacies:
- Norlevo (morning-after pill, up to 72 hours/3 days after intercourse)
- Ellaone (morning-after pill, up to 120 hours/5 days after intercourse)
It is not a means of contraception, but a back-up in the event of a contraception failure.
Since 1st April 2023, all contraceptive methods (except condoms) have been dispensed free of charge on medical prescription in Luxembourg pharmacies to anyone affiliated to the Caisse Nationale de Santé (National Health Fund), with no age limit.
At Planning Familial, all contraceptives are free for everyone
Chlamydia is tested for in urine. The sample is sent to the laboratory. If the result is positive, we will prescribe the necessary treatment for you and your partner(s).
