Planning Familial’s “Parlons Santé” (“Let’s talk health”) project aims to promote the integration, empowerment and well-being of people seeking and receiving international protection in Luxembourg. Planning Familial regularly offers “Cafés Santé” (“Health Cafés”) for women, Ateliers Hommes (“Workshops for Men”) and, on request, workshops for unaccompanied minors.

These are informal discussions on sexual, emotional, reproductive and psychological health. The aim of this information and awareness-raising work is to help DPIs and BPIs take care of their health and well-being.

Not all topics can be covered in a 2-hours session. The aim is to encourage discussion and, above all, to answer the participants’ questions.

The groups (maximum 15 people registered) are made up of participants who speak a common language. Depending on the group, a professional female or male interpreter will be provided.

Children under 4 years accompanying their parents are welcome.

The “Health Café” for women and the “Men’s Workshop” are free and confidential. Participants can ask any questions they may have and, if they wish, make an appointment with a gynaecologist/doctor/psychologist/sexologist/counsellor with the help of an interpreter. “Health booklets”, a compendium of health information, are available in English, Tigrigna, Farsi, Arabic, Ukrainian and Russian, with translation into French at the end of the “Health Café” for women and the “Men’s Workshop”.

Confidentiality is ensured: no minutes are taken at the end of or during the workshop.

❗ The workshops are not open to social and educational workers.

At the end of a Café-Santé, those who wish can, with the help of an interpreter, make an appointment with team of professionals, (gynaecologists, doctors, psychologists, sexologists, counsellorsworking) at Planning Familial.

The Parlons Santé project was financed under the 2014-2020 programme of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). This is an equal co-financing between the European Union and the Luxembourg State through the OLAI (Luxembourg Office for Reception and Integration) of the Ministry of the Family and Integration.
