WAT äntweren?

The project

The WAT äntweren? (WHAT to answer?) project aims to support parents in educating their children about affective and sexual health. It provides accessible fact sheets on a blog, offering a clear and understandable introduction to topics related to sexual health, sexual rights, and children’s rights. This project is supported by SCRIPT and other partners and is led by Planning Familial.

The goal is to “equip” parents with the necessary tools to approach often delicate subjects with their children, helping them to answer their questions accurately and compassionately. Despite the abundance of information on sexuality, this topic remains a taboo, which can lead young people to seek answers on the internet, sometimes exposing them to difficult-to-manage situations. WAT äntweren? aims to provide parents with resources so they can guide their children in an informed, responsible, and respectful way, in alignment with everyone’s rights.

👉 Sex education is a useful life skill for all children!

Planning Familial has been advocating for years for high-quality, neutral, and inclusive sexual and emotional education from an early age, delivered repeatedly and tailored to the children’s age.

Sex education helps children to better understand their bodies and emotions, to better manage their sexuality and emotional life, to strengthen them and to improve their skills in their relationships with others. With this in mind, the factsheets cover a wide range of topics, including sexuality and its diversity, consent, puberty, sexual abuse, social networks, love and family relationships, gender, etc.

The fact sheets

In concreto, this pilot project offers a practical online guide providing information and keys to action on a number of issues in the form of summary sheets that parents may have to deal with. (the bibliographical references for the citations in the fact sheets can be found in the project’s bibliography).
